Selecting a motor home can be a daunting task for anyone. So many options, so many features – where do I even start? But when you take the time to learn a little more about these wonderful metal creatures, the right decision for you can become an easy one. It is as simple as breaking it down by type. When your money is on the line, make sure you choose the motor home that fits your preference by following these basic guidelines:
The Class C recreational vehicle is smaller than its Class A counterpart, but that may not be such a bad thing. The smaller size, and more of a truck like feel provides a much easier driving experience. But don’t expect your mother’s Honda. The lip at the rear of the vehicle can swing out when making turns, making you extra cautious that you don’t accidentally nick someone while turning. As far as amenities are concerned; you will have all of the basic necessities, but not much more when you purchase a basic model. Most Class A types boast a washer and dryer in the unit, whereas the Class C just does not have enough space.
The price, new, for one of these will set you back at least 60k, and can leap as high as 6 figures depending on the size. However, if you do spend a bit extra for more luxury, Class Cs with a range of amenities can be found at a higher cost. Bottom line: if you are on a budget, or prefer a smaller style, then Class C could be your best bet. Find our Class C inventory here.
The Class A type motorhome is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the term, motor home. They are big, spacious, and (depending on your price range) can offer you incredible luxury features that compete with the swankiest of houses. Things like: fireplaces, ice makers, home theatre systems and many more. Most present day units also provide multiple side and rear cameras, to make your experience a safer one.
What is all this added room going to cost you? Low end of the spectrum says 75k. Extra space and features will bring the price up to the 150-250k range. See our selection of Class A’s here.
The Class A Diesel Pushers are highly regarded as the elite of the motor home family. They are sleek, smooth, and likely house some of your favorite music artists when they are traversing the country, on tour. But to call a diesel pusher your baby, be ready to dish out some serious cash. Most prices range from $150-$300k. Expect huge flat screens, heated flooring, and much much more.
Diesel Pushers get roughly 6 miles per gallon, which combined with higher diesel fuel prices will make them much more expensive to operate than their younger, smaller cousins. The good news: diesel pushers have an average lifespan of 1,000,000 miles. Meaning that this investment, is the gift that keeps on giving – all lifelong. An investment that, like any motor home, is a priceless one. See everything we have to offer here!
In short, there is no wrong decision when selecting a motor home that best suits your lifestyle. Just pack your bags, fill the tank, and ride…anywhere you want to go.
