There’s no place like home for the holidays, but home is where you make it when you’re traveling in your new RV. From here at our Virginia area RV dealership to the far side of the country, you can settle in and enjoy the holidays with a few touches to make it feel like home.
Trimming the Tree
If a Christmas tree is a must for you and your crew, consider an artificial tree to make things a bit easier to transport and clean up. Artificial trees also come in a variety of sizes and offer pre-lit options, which can be real lifesavers when trying to find a tree that fits into your limited space without dominating the whole room.
Of course, if weather permits you can make a new tradition by opening gifts under a real tree at your campsite–just be sure to clean up any decorations or wrapping paper when you’re done. As an added bonus, lighting a campfire on Christmas morning definitely beats out watching one crackle on TV!
Spreading Christmas Cheer
Nothing makes Christmas feel festive like your favorite holiday songs, and singing them together is a great new tradition for you and your fellow travelers! Your family can make a great new yearly tradition of caroling, and RV campgrounds are the perfect place to walk around, sing for your neighbors, and maybe even get some hot cocoa as a thank you.
Sitting Down for Dinner
No holiday is complete without a hearty meal, and your RV has everything you need. Whether you’re cooking in or out of your RV, our Virginia area team knows that a small kitchen doesn’t have to mean a small meal, if you plan accordingly.
Most RVs feature a convection microwave in place of a traditional oven, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bake! Christmas cookies are a breeze in your RV’s convection microwave. Preheat the convection microwave oven to 350º and use butter or shortening to grease cookie sheets. Mix up the dough for your favorite cookies, then bake in the convection microwave oven for 8-10 minutes or until they are a golden color. It’s that easy!
Take advantage of some of our favorite RV cooking tricks to ensure the meal is up to your standards, and share it with friends, family, or fellow RV park campers to solidify a new tradition. Of course, you could also order a ready-made meal from a nearby restaurant and heat it in your RV to minimize the effort so that you can relax on the holiday. We won’t tell anyone if you decide to cut corners!
